Copyright / DMCA Policy

Effective date: August 20, 2026

YourFic respects intellectual property rights and responds to properly submitted copyright notices.

1. YourFic is an independent platform

YourFic is an independent, unofficial fanfiction platform. References to third-party characters, fictional universes, names, trademarks, or other intellectual property belong to their respective owners. YourFic is not affiliated with or endorsed by those rights holders.

YourFic provides tools that generate text from user input. Users decide what to submit, what to generate and what to do with the result. Users are responsible for that content, as set out in our Terms of Service.

2. Designated copyright agent

[PLACEHOLDER — DMCA AGENT DETAILS REQUIRED]

  • Agent legal name: [OWNER DECISION REQUIRED]
  • Organisation: [OWNER DECISION REQUIRED: legal business name]
  • Mailing address: [OWNER DECISION REQUIRED]
  • Telephone number: [OWNER DECISION REQUIRED]
  • Email address: [OWNER DECISION REQUIRED]

Important: to rely on DMCA safe-harbour protection in the United States, a qualifying service provider must publish its designated agent's contact information and also register that agent with the U.S. Copyright Office through the Copyright Office's online directory. YourFic has not been registered yet — this must be completed by the owner. [OWNER DECISION REQUIRED] [ATTORNEY REVIEW REQUIRED]

3. Submitting an infringement notice

If you own a copyright, or are authorised to act for the owner, and believe content on YourFic infringes that copyright, send a written notice to the designated agent above. A valid notice should include:

  • Your physical or electronic signature.
  • Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
  • Identification of the material claimed to be infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it (for example, the URL, account email, story title or a description).
  • Your name, mailing address, telephone number and email address.
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
  • A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or are authorised to act on the owner's behalf.

Incomplete notices may delay our response. Knowingly submitting a false claim of infringement can create legal liability.

4. How we handle valid notices

  • We review the notice and, where it is valid, remove or disable access to the identified material.
  • We notify the affected user and provide a copy of the notice where appropriate.
  • We keep a record of notices received and actions taken.
  • Because generated stories are private to each account, some claims may require additional detail before we can identify the material.

5. Counter-notification

If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter-notification to the agent above containing:

  • Your physical or electronic signature.
  • Identification of the removed material and where it appeared before removal.
  • A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  • Your name, mailing address, telephone number and email address, and a statement consenting to the jurisdiction described by applicable law. [ATTORNEY REVIEW REQUIRED]

If we receive a valid counter-notification we may restore the material within the timeframe allowed by law unless the original complainant notifies us that they have filed a court action.

6. Repeat infringers

We may restrict, suspend or terminate accounts that are the subject of repeated valid infringement notices, and we may terminate an account immediately in cases of clear or serious infringement. [OWNER DECISION REQUIRED] Confirm the strike threshold you want to apply (for example, termination after three valid notices).

7. Trademarks and other rights

For trademark, publicity or other non-copyright complaints, contact the same address and describe the right you hold and the material at issue. Nothing in this policy is an admission of liability or a representation that the fanfiction disclaimer eliminates copyright or trademark liability. Operated by [OWNER DECISION REQUIRED: legal business name].

This document is provided for information only and is not legal advice. It does not guarantee compliance with the laws of any particular jurisdiction. Items marked [OWNER DECISION REQUIRED] or [ATTORNEY REVIEW REQUIRED] must be completed and reviewed before launch.
